If you discover that you recently suffer from acne, don't desperate, there are possible cures for this skin disease. If the cause of acne has been established, a solution is possible.

Anyone with or who has had acne can tell you, how many times a day they've cleaned their faces with anti-bacterial facial wash and still faced new pimples the next day.

The same goes for all the other topical creams for acne available in the market, which kills germs and open up blocked pores. These may provide temporary relief, but you will never experience acne free skin by only focusing on acne from the outside.

The real and main causes of acne are hormone imbalance, water retention and toxins. Let�s talk about hormones. Hormones are chemicals that are produced by glands in the body and circulate in the bloodstream that control numerous body functions including sebum (skin oil) production and regulation. The hormones that are responsible for acne are called androgens. This is because androgens stimulate the sebaceous glands (glands in the skin that secrete oil to the surface of the skin.)

When you have too many androgens in the blood, your sebaceous glands begin to over-produce oil in the skin. You have to be clear that it is not only oil that will cause acne but it�s the initial problem you want to resolve.

The next part of the problem is toxins in the blood and lymph. When your liver and kidneys are not properly cleansing the blood and are overloaded, the liver is unable to properly 'deactivate' used hormones and remove them from the body.

The combination of oil, bacteria and toxins blocks pores generate Acne. Inside the blocked pores also are bacteria which grow in a low-oxygen environment. This bacteria aggravates the skin condition and causes an inflammatory disease, otherwise known as acne.

Hormone imbalance doesn't only cause acne, but can be responsible for many other problems including: allergies, fatigue, headaches, mood swings and insomnia.

For most teenagers, hormone imbalance occurs during puberty when the body is busy producing hormones for growth, maturity and reproduction. In case of adult acne, it predominately arises from the inability of the liver and kidneys to effectively eliminate excess hormones and toxins from the blood.

In order to cure your acne you have to be able to get your hormones into balance by feeding your body the key nutrients that aid hormone regulation in the glands and also strengthen the liver which is the other hormone regulatory system. You have to also apply a topic that trigger the self healing process of your skin, this way you will avoid further blemishes while you are treating the main cause of acne.

The B group of vitamins may be one of the most commonly misunderstood of the vitamins, simply because these are several distinct vitamins lumped together. The fact that the vitamins in this group are known by both letter and number becomes confusing to many people. It�s just often more difficult to remember numbers, meaning you may remember that it�s one of the �B vitamins,� but not remember which number is associated with that particular one. It may help to find out that each of the B vitamins also has a name.

� B1 is also thiamin
� B2 is also riboflavin
� B3 is also niacin
� B5 is also pantothenic acid
� B6 is also pyridoxine
� B7 is also biotin
� B9 is also folic acid
� B12 is also cobalamin

You should note that there are four additional substances in the B complex group, though they are not known as vitamins because they are not necessary for normal body function. They are choline, lipoic acid, PABA and inositol. When you purchase B complex vitamins, these four will not be included, and at least one or two of the recognized B vitamins may also be omitted. B5 and B7 are so widely available in food that most people simply get enough of these vitamins, even if they aren�t eating a healthy diet.

Arguably one of the most commonly recognized uses of the B vitamins is an energy booster. Some health care professionals tout the advantages of taking B12 in large doses to combat tiredness, but most seem to agree that starting a regimen of B vitamins is only advisable in severe cases.

More recently, research suggests that some Vitamin B deficiencies may aggravate certain health issues or health risks, and that an increase of those vitamins will help relieve symptoms or lessen the risk. Notably, Alzheimer�s is one of those diseases and sufferers of this disease sometimes show improvement from added Vitamin B on a daily basis. Vitamin B2 has also been used to help some migraine patients.

The correlation between certain health issues and vitamin deficiencies is certain, though finding the right treatment may be tricky. One of the most common problems with using vitamins from the B complex group to treat health issues is the fact that many diseases and health issues have overlapping symptoms. Treating those symptoms may ultimately cause more problems than it cures. Talk to your health care professional before taking extraordinary steps toward a vitamin regimen, including those that include complex B vitamins.

The vast majority of people will experience some sort of back pain throughout their lives. When most people think of back pain treatments, they often think of expensive medications and surgical procedures.

However, many would be surprised to learn that low cost methods for treating back pain are available which are quite effective. Several studies have been conducted which show that getting a good amount of cardiovascular exercise on a regular basis is very effective at stopping back pain.

Many of these methods are low cost, such as hiking, swimming, or jogging. Cardiovascular exercises have been shown to be just as effective for treating and preventing back pain as many physical therapies. These activities are fun to do, and will keep both your back and the rest of your body healthy.

Some of you reading this article may be under the impression that this advice is common sense. In reality, many people don't know how to properly exercise their backs, and give up easily when things become tough. Some are already unhealthy and overweight, and have developed bad habits which are difficult to break.

It is important to change your mindset. Instead of looking at cardiovascular exercise as a chore, incorporate it into your everday activities. If you have a job which is close to your home, start riding a bike to work once a week. Start small and work your way up.

Exercise is important for your spine and back. Humans aren't designed to spend hours sitting in front of a computer or in traffic. We are supposed to work out our bodies, and when we don't, problems like chronic back pain develop over time.

When people suffer from back pain, they often stop exercising entirely. They are under the false impression that exercising their backs will put them in even more pain. This is certainly true if they don't exercise properly. The muscles surrounding the spinal column support your body, and need to be strong.

The weaker they are, the more pain you will experience. By exercising, you strengthen these muscles in your back, and they will become strong enough to support your body, relieving you of pain. You don't want to wait until the problem becomes so severe that you need medical treatment.

The costs of healthcare are increasing, and people are finding it hard to afford care. The best type of treatment you can give yourself is prevention by exercising properly and keeping both your back and the rest of your body healthy.

I seldom have a sleepless night but remember an occasion when I had difficulty falling asleep. Being awake when I should have been asleep was very annoying. Since I work at night, the problem may have been too much sunlight coming in through the window when it was time to go to bed. In the winter time the light isn't bright enough to bother me.

Light influences the production of a hormone that regulates when we get that sleepy feeling. Too much light tends to make us wake up. Unfortunately, light is only one of the factors that influences our ability to fall asleep. Stress, caffeine use and a host of other factors can also contribute to a case of insomnia.

Insomnia can be described as the inability to fall asleep, the inability to stay asleep or waking up too early. There are three categories of insomnia . Chronic insomnia is long term and happens most nights for a month or longer. Two to four weeks of poor sleep constitutes short-term insomnia and the transient form of insomnia lasts but a few nights.

Benzodiazepines could be prescribed to help one fall asleep on a short term basis. Long term use of sleeping pills can become addictive.

Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine used for insomnia and anxiety relief. Lorazepam also goes by the names Lorazepam Intensol, Loraz, Alzapam and Ativan. In Canada you might find the names Nu-Loraz, Novo-Lorazepam or Apo-Lorazepam.

There are a number of side effects that a Lorazepam user might wish to be aware of. Among them are clumsiness, drowsiness and dizziness. Other possible side effects include, decreased sex drive, difficulty urinating, nausea, constipation or diarrhea. There are more potential side effects, ask your pharmacist for more information.

The human body can be viewed as a system made up of other systems. There are a number of systems that work together to make up the miracle of human life. It is a sad fact of life that the population as a whole is getting fatter. More and more people are finding it necessary to lose weight, either for cosmetic, social or medical reasons. It can be an uphill struggle and it is well documented that some slimmers are more successful than others. However, if you are one of the lucky ones and reach your ideal weight you cannot rest on your laurels, because for many the hardest part is still to come! Keeping the weight off.

For many people this can be even harder than losing the weight in the first place, and before they know where they are the pounds have sneaked back on and they are back at square one. An unfortunate few even find themselves behind square one, weighing more than they did when they started. Either way this is a very depressing and demoralising situation to find yourself in, and many lack the strength and determination to start again.

In my experience successful weight loss is achieved by a combination of good diet and regular exercise. Of these it is often the diet that is hardest to control. It is so easy to be tempted from the straight and narrow by a tasty treat, or forced off the road altogether by some crisis that makes you start comfort eating. For me there are few things more reassuring than chocolate when I'm having a problem. So even when you've lost weight temptation is always there.

The best way to remove this temptation is to make your home a 'treat-free' zone. A bit like smokers trying to kick the habit remove all cigarettes. This way if you feel tempted the cupboard will only be full of good things so you shouldn't come to much harm if you give in and eat something. If this sounds a bit too drastic to do all at once, you could try banishing all the treats to the back of the most inaccessible cupboard in the kitchen. This way if you're tempted you might be put off by the effort needed, or if you're not, at least you'll burn off a few calories climbing on to the chair and emptying the cupboard to reach your crisps!

That's OK as far as your own home is concerned, but you have to go out sometime, and the world is full of temptation. Shops, supermarkets, even your friends homes, are a minefield. Chocolates, crisps, fizzy drinks at every turn. Unfortunately there's no magic solution to this, it's down to you. You just have to be strong. Make a shopping list before you set off and stick to it. Eat before you go shopping. Tell your friends you're on a diet, if they're true friends they'll respect this and help you.

Gradually this new regime will become your way of life. In time the old, bad habits will fade and your new healthy routine will become normal. Keeping the weight off by this method is easier than slipping back into your old ways and having to start all over again. Your body will become less dependant on junk food and you might even find yourself looking forward to an apple instead of a chocolate bar. The chances are it will never be easy, but with willpower it can be done.

A question that people normally ask is whether exercises to correct scoliosis are effective. Scoliosis is the lateral curvature of the spine. It is a progressive disease. Experts feel that exercises to correct scoliosis are not that effective, as little evidence is found about the effectiveness of exercises. However, exercises do help in slowing down the progress of the spinal curvature and allow for some reduction in the angle of curvature. Stretching exercises are performed to increase the mobility of the spine in the right direction. The physical therapist also tries to improve the muscle tone and posture. The thrust of these exercises is to exert corrective force on the spine in the direction opposite the direction of the curve.

Scoliosis Braces and Exercise to Correct Scoliosis

People wearing scoliosis braces are often suggested exercise to correct scoliosis. These exercises are aimed at helping the wearer adapt to the brace, to allow for correction of the spinal deformity, and to improve trunk muscular tone during the period braces are worn. Braces tend to lead the muscles into losing muscle tone. The physical therapist suggests other exercises for trunk and pelvic correction, which are required to be performed everyday.

Exercise to correct scoliosis does help in a limited way to reduce curve angles by several degrees. This has found to help the breathing process in people who do these exercises regularly. It has not been observed whether the improvement in curvature is of permanent nature. Exercises are not an alternative to surgery procedure. Where surgery is recommended, it should not be delayed in favor of therapeutic exercise.

Scoliosis is not related to flexibility issues or lack of strength. Thus, exercise to correct scoliosis is relatively ineffective. However, scoliosis does not act as a deterrent to normal physical activity. Children and teenagers with scoliosis can participate in sports and recreational activities. They can even perform normal exercises that help build muscle strength and endurance. They can even train to improve their cardiovascular conditioning like normal people.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Cook beef, onion, celery, and garlic in 10-inch skillet over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes; stirring occasionally; until beef is brown; drain.

Stir soup, corn, picante sauce, chili powder, and pepper into beef mixture. Spoon into ungreased 2-quart casserole dish. Top with potato nuggets.

Bake uncovered 40 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake an additional 5 to 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Most people have a real basic idea about what they need when they set out to do baking at home, but most people don�t have the background to know what works well and what does not, in the baking tips and tricks that I am going to show you will make your baking experience much more interesting and your work easier.

Baking Tip #1. Using tin baking pans is what they used in the 40's and 50's and they worked well but they didn't distribute the heat through the pan very well, by using a heavy gage aluminum baking pan the heat will be distributed through the pan a lot better giving you a much more evenly baked cake without any burn spot.

Baking Tip#2. Everyone tries to get a really smooth icing on their cake before decorating it but it just doesn't want to smooth out, well here is the way you do it. After you get the icing on the cake as smooth as you can dip the icing spatula in hot water and wipe in a towel to take off the water and lightly smooth out the icing, the heat from the spatula will melt the shortening in the icing causing it to become smooth. You will need to repeat this as many times as necessary.

Baking Tip#3. Cake ruffle around the base of your cake will make it much more appealing and only takes a moment to apply it.

Baking Tip#4 To make a better box cake mix use 4 medium eggs, 1/3 cup of vegetable oil, 1 �1/4 cup cold water, 2 ounces pudding mix, this will give you a moister cake with a fluffier texture.

Baking Tip#5. When making cookies that you are going to roll out with your hands use an ice-cream scoop to dip them out and save yourself a great amount of time and they will also be the same size.

Baking Tip#6. Having cookies all the same size on a baking pan causes them all to bake more evenly and they will all come out of the oven looking great.

Baking Tip#7. When baking sugar cookies bake them on the two upper racks of your oven, this will cause them to bake more evenly because they won't get a lot of bottom heat on some and not on others. You want even browning on all.

Baking Tip#8. When baking cookies rotate the pans at the half point of the baking time.

Baking Tip#9. Always use parchment on your baking pans when baking cookies, it makes a lot easier.

Baking Tip#10. When baking a cake don't grease or flour your pan, just use parchment paper on the bottom of your pan and when the cake has been cooled cut around the sides of the pan with a sharp straight blade knife then dump the cake out onto the table and remove the parchment before assembling.

Normal and Short-term Phenomenon

Early pregnancy back pain is a normal phenomenon in early pregnancy and it generally subsides after about 20 weeks. Back pain or spasm, which is reflected by stretching of muscles or burning pain in the left or the right side of the quadrant, is normally the result of the softening of the supporting ligaments and disks due to an increase in the progesterone hormone. In some cases, urinary infection can also result in back pain amongst pregnant women. The extra weight of a pregnant women's body and the change in her centre of gravity also result in backaches and back pain.

The most important remedy for curing early pregnancy back pain is exercising. Walking, pelvic rocking, bridging (done by laying on the floor, bending your knees and lifting your buttocks into air), mini-crunches (done by laying on the floor), bending your knees and lifting your head on exhalation, are good exercises for pregnant women and can go a long way in relieving a back pain.

The right body posture and good body mechanics also play an important role in keeping one free of early pregnancy back pain. The right posture means standing straight and tall and is as essential in early pregnancy as before that. However, in late pregnancy, as the uterus becomes big, one tends to pull back her shoulders to offset the additional weight, which results in a back strain. One can reduce back pain in such a position by frequently changing her sitting position and avoiding standing for long periods.

Adequate rest and sleep are also essential for avoiding or eliminating early pregnancy back pain. Although one can do normal yoga exercises to eliminate minor back pain, one should seek proper medical help in case of a major pain in the back of a pregnant woman. Doctors often advice physiotherapy in such a case.

You probably hear lots of information about the need to get sufficient amounts of vitamins in your daily diet, and to take a vitamin supplement if you aren't getting those necessary vitamins. If vitamins are good for you, it stands to reason that more is better, right? Actually, overdoing it with vitamins can cause some problems as well. Take a look at some of the more common vitamins and what you can face by getting too much of a good thing.

Vitamin D - Vitamin D is readily available in milk and dairy products, but only those that have been Vitamin D fortified. There are some other sources of this vitamin, with tuna, salmon, sardines and mackerel among those with the higher contents. You also get Vitamin D from sunshine. A lack of Vitamin D causes bone problems, including rickets.

An overdose of Vitamin D will likely first let itself be known in the form of nausea. In extreme cases, loss of appetite, weakness and abnormal heart rhythm can occur.

Despite what some people may think, it's unlikely that you can get an overdose of Vitamin D from the sun. Sunburn will show itself long before your body absorbs enough Vitamin D from the sunshine. Too much calcium in the diet can also cause problems with major organs, including the heart and kidneys.

Vitamin A - Vitamin A is often associated with the �orange� fruits and vegetables such as carrots, sweet potatoes, oranges and carrots. There are other sources as well, mainly in fruits and vegetables. Vitamin A is good for vision, healthy skin and hair.

An overdose of Vitamin A can result is some serious health risks and will first be seen as headaches, vomiting, dizziness and a lack of coordination in the muscles. Most commonly, Vitamin A toxicity arises from consuming a huge amount of Vitamin A over a short period of time, usually in the form of vitamins as supplements. Damage to the central nervous system or liver, and birth defects are among the possible long-term effects of overdoses of Vitamin A.

Vitamin B - There are several vitamins that make up the group known as the B-Complex vitamins. B6 and B12 are among the more common of that group. Both are touted in connection with healthy hearts and maintaining a youthful appearance, but it�s important to note that there are some important differences in the toxicity potential for vitamins in this group. Notably, there have been few cases of B12 overdoses, especially cases that caused adverse symptoms.

By contrast, B6 typically can result in nerve damage. As a rule, the effects are reversed when the levels of B6 are brought back under control.

As a rule, it's difficult to consume sufficient amounts of vitamins to cause severe toxicity. Nausea will typically be your first clue to a problem. Talk to your doctor or health care professional before starting any vitamin regimen or making major changes to your diet.

2 pkgs. Frozen grilled fish fillets (garlic butter flavor)
2 cups coleslaw mix
1/3 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
2 tablespoons green onions, sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/8 teaspoon salt
8 taco shells or corn tortillas, warmed
Red or green taco sauce


Bake fish according to package directions.

Meanwhile, combine coleslaw mix, cilantro, onions, oil, lime juice, and salt in medium bowl. Let stand 20 minutes.

Cool fish slightly; flake into large pieces with fork.

Fill taco shells with fish, coleslaw mixture, and taco sauce.

Most people would worry if their temperature, or the temperature of their child or other loved one, was to rise by more than a couple of degrees and they would probably act to try to reduce the temperature to nearer the normal 37C/98.6F. Surprisingly, this is not necessarily the best course of action.

Prior to the development of antibiotics and vaccines, fever struck fear into populations and caused many deaths. Modern medicines, however, have caused these diseases to be treatable or preventable. Medical research has also shown that a fever is not the body's enemy.

Most bacteria and viruses that cause infections thrive at normal body temperatures. So raising the temperature by a few degrees is the body's way of fighting infection by making conditions less suitable for the survival and reproducion of the infectious agent. A fever will also activate the body's immune system by encouraging the production of white blood cells, antibodies and other infection-fighting agents. So if acting to bring down the temperature may prevent the body from fighting the infection, does this mean you should let the fever take its natural course? Not necessarily.

A high fever may be caused by measles, mumps or meningitis or other serious illnesses and you should seek medical help in any of the following circumstances.

If the temperature rises to 40.5C/105F.

Any child under six months old should be examined by a doctor.

If a patient of any age has difficulty breathing, has a stiff neck, is irritable or confused, is unable to move an arm or leg, or has a seizure.

If the fever is accompanied by any of the following symptoms: persistent or abnormal stomach pain; laboured or rapid breathing; headache with an avertion to bright light.


Simple and straightforward: place a hand on the forehead or use a thermometer - there are three types, oral, rectal or a strip that can be placed on the forehead.


As a fever is an important part of the body's defence mechanism, the aim should be to reduce the temperature to about 38C/101F rather than bring it down to normal. Indeed, if a child with a fever is playing happily, is able to sleep, and is taking plenty of fluids, it would be better to let the body's defenses fight the infection. Conversely, if the child is vomiting, dehydrated, or having difficulty sleeping, seek medical help.


High fever can cause complications, some of which are serious.

A prolonged period with a temperature above 42C/107.6F can result in brain damage.

In rare cases, high fever can cause febrile seizures. Although the symptoms are alarming, febrile seizures are over in moments and have no lasting consequences. The seizures begin with a sudden contraction of the muscles in the face, arms, legs and trunk. Usually the child will emit a haunting, involuntary moan lasting for perhaps 30 seconds. The child will often fall, vomit, pass urine, cease breathing and might turn blue. Eventually the contraction will be broken by repeated jerks after which the child will be limp, unresponsive and drowsy.


A high fever is a sign that the body is fighting an infection. You should look for other symptoms in order to decide whether to seek medical help.

You can ask your doctor to recommend a brand or dose for acidophilus which can fight yeasts and are good to diminish rashes if those has occurred due to your baby's taking antibiotics.

Bottom balm - a diaper rash natural cream is good for baby's skin. Make sure the cream is made of natural ingredients like vitamin E, primrose oil, and calendula.

Consulting doctor - talk to doctor if the rash is persistent that is caused often by food allergy. The doctor may recommend a new diet chart.

To help you become one of those that do achieve permanent weight loss from dieting, here are Ten Golden Rules to Dieting that you can trust to help you lose those unwanted inches and pounds.

Rule 1: Never Skip Breakfast

The old saying that 'breakfast is the most important meal of the day' is certainly on the money when it comes to dieting.

Nothing gets our metabolism going faster than breakfast after a good night's sleep.

Sleeping causes our metabolism to slow right down and breakfast kick-starts it again for us.

But always remember that just as important as having breakfast itself, it's also important to choose healthy breakfast options like wholegrain cereals and breads, low-fat dairy products like milk and yogurt, and fruit or fruit juice.

Rule 2: Drink Plenty of Water and Get Plenty of Sleep

Drinking plenty of water and getting enough sleep are critically important when we are dieting.

As well as helping to keep us healthy, drinking sufficient amounts of water can help us when dieting because it helps keep us feeling full and stops us from feeling hungry, and when we drink plenty of water we usually drink less soda, coffee and alcohol, all of which can add significant amounts of calories to our daily intake.

One case in point was a series of studies published in the Journal of the American Medical Association which showed that sleep loss can make weight loss far more difficult than it needs to be.

Do you know how many calories you need to maintain your current weight and do you know how many calories you therefore need to consume in order to lose weight?

Once you know these things, you also need to keep track of how many calories you consume each day so that you can compare them to your target and make any necessary adjustments.

Writing down your calorie consumption after each meal will help you realize how much of an effect the little piece of candy here and the occasional cookie there has on your weight.

Writing down your calorie consumption needn't be hard, most of us eat the same things week in week out so chances are you'll only need to get to know the energy values of a relatively small number of foods and drinks in order to keep track.

Rule 4: Don't try to lose weight quickly

Gaining significant weight usually takes years and so should losing a significant amount of weight.

Our bodies don't like sudden and significant change; in fact it is built to resist it.

This resistance has a scientific name called homeostasis.

When our body heats up to a temperature above its preferred level what happens?

We sweat, which is an automatic response designed to cool us down to the preferred level again. That's homeostasis at work.

When we lose weight too quickly, what happens?

Our body automatically slows down its metabolism, that is, the rate at which we burn energy to survive and function. That's homeostasis at work again.

In addition to keeping our body from fighting against us on the weight loss front, losing weight too quickly doesn't work because early rapid weight loss usually results from losing body fluid and muscle tissue which is not healthy nor helpful in our battle to lose weight.

Rapid and significant weight loss from dieting alone is usually indicative of a very calorie restrictive diet which is also counterproductive because for most of us it is unsustainable.

Rule 5: It's not just what you eat that counts

Weight gain isn't a sign that we have been eating the wrong food; it is a sign that we have been eating too much food.

The great news about this is that we don't need to all start eating lettuce to lose weight; we just may need to cut down a little on the foods we enjoy each day.

Rule 6: Keeping your metabolism up

Muscle and activity keep our metabolism up which is why weight training to build or maintain our muscle mass and aerobic activity like walking, jogging, cycling and swimming are so important to those of us wanting to lose weight

Dieting alone is not the best route to weight loss and to staying in an ideal weight range.

To lose weight safely and keep it off for as long as possible, always combine dieting and exercise.

Rule 7: You won't continue to eat foods you don't like

Most diets fail because they require us to eat plenty of foods we don't actually like.

If we don't like what we're eating we're not going to stick with our diet for more than a week or two.

The key to successful dieting is to reduce the amount we eat and introduce healthier and lower calorie options of the foods we like gradually into our diet over time.

Rule 8: Watch what you drink as well as eat

Almost everything we drink, except water, has calories in it.

Drinks highest in calories are typically sodas, colas and alcoholic drinks.

If we typically drink a lot of any of these high calorie drinks, it may be them and not what we're eating that is causing us to get fat.

This being the case, for many of us simply reducing these drinks or eliminating them altogether from our diet may be all that is necessary for us to lose a significant amount of fat and weight.

Rule 9: Avoid extremes of any kind

Balance is not only the key to a happy, healthy life; it is also the key to a healthy diet and dieting.

Be very weary of any diets that completely cut out some foods or food groups or severely limit some foods or food groups, for example very low or no-carb diets.

Diets that are extreme in one way or another are likely to be very unhealthy at best and very dangerous to our health at worst.

If you're ever considering such a diet, which will probably promise very rapid and significant results, remember what we said about rapid weight loss and how our body is designed to maintain the status quo.

Rule 10: Seek help

If you have a lot of weight to lose, you've got a better chance of success if you get help.

If your weight is affecting your health to such an extent that it is or is becoming life-threatening or is leading to you suffering from weight related diseases like type-2 diabetes, seek medical help from a doctor or professional help from a dietician or another suitably qualified health care professional to lose weight immediately.

Even if your weight isn't directly affecting your health now, it is a great idea to get help in your battle against the bulge from professionals like dieticians, personal trainers, gyms, psychologists (overeating is often caused by emotional factors) or weight loss program providers and other weight loss specialists.

In addition to getting professional help, non-professional help, support and encouragement is also vital in improving your chances of dieting success.

For this type of help turn to friends, family and the support of other people with similar weight related goals, such as those that can be found on weight loss forums.

In yoga, trataka is a technique devised by the ancient sages to improve eyesight. It is a shuddhikriya or a purification process to cleanse the eyesight and help in the silencing of the mind in concentration.

Sit with your back straight. Keep your eyes fixed on an object without winking till tears start streaming down your face. The small object can be the flame of an oil lamp, or an image or a picture or the letter �AUM�. This object should be placed in the line of sight at a distance of about four to six feet. You can also do this kriya without any object in front of you. Having an object is not necessary. Just stare in front of you at the wall without moving the eyeballs or eyelids. Ensure that you stare at a certain point on the wall.

Before starting this exercise, you can start off by moving the eyes without moving the head, where you roll your eyeballs up and down, sideways and from corner to corner diagonally. Initially, you can make this movement with open eyes and then repeat them with closed eyes. This will give the requisite exercise to the eye muscles. This is then followed by trataka. Trataka makes the eyes clear, improves eyes and silences the mind. Over a period of time, you will experience the silence of the mind. If you want to meditate, start with trataka to silence the mind and then go to the meditation. This way, you will reap the benefits of meditation. Since you are exercising the eye muscles, they become stronger. You can perform this kriya daily without any harmful effects.

Razors come in all varieties. They can be made of cheap plastic with a single blade which can be bought for a quarter, or a high quality electric version costing $50 or more.


Another common hair removal method is plucking, or tweezing, the hair. While this method is time consuming, as you can only pluck one hair at a time, it is useful for smaller areas, such as an extra eyebrow hair or two. However, it can be painful, especially around the eyes, and can cause irritation and ingrown hairs. While it is a myth that by plucking a hair out by its root you are causing two to grow in its place, many women do not pluck their hair for this very reason. But investing in a $2 pair of tweezers is a lifesaver when you want to look perfect for that special occasion.


For larger areas, many people prefer to use hot wax. The wax is applied to the skin with a piece of paper or cloth covering it. After the wax cools, the strip is ripped away, taking the hair with it. While this method is fast, it can also be painful. In addition, waxing removes the top layer of skin, and can cause rashes and redness. However, once you become good at the technique, it is an easy and inexpensive way to quickly get rid of unwanted hair at home. Kits can be purchased for $20-$40. You can also have your skin waxed by a professional. Depending on the area you are having waxed, this can cost from $20 to around $150.

Sugar Waxing

Sugar waxing is similar in method to traditional waxing, except that the "wax" is a sticky sugary paste. Sugaring is even less expensive, as home kits can be bought for as little as $10.


Rather than removing the hair, some women prefer to lighten it. This is especially common for women with facial hair. Bleaching is completely pain-free, and can be done at home. Most women do not have any skin reactions to the bleach; however, as with a hair dye, be sure to test first on a small, inconspicuous part of your skin, just in case the bleach does change your skin color or cause irritation.


Threading, also known as khite, is commonly practiced in the Middle East but much less well-known in the west. It is performed using a cotton thread. The thread is twisted, catching the hair, and is then pulled to remove it. The results are similar to plucking, but many more hairs can be removed at one time. Always use cotton so the fibers themselves do not irritate the skin.


Depilatories are creams that dissolve hair, allowing it to be wiped away. For some people, depilatories last no longer than shaving, while others are hair-free for several days. The process is not always painless, but is definitely less painful than waxing. The creams can be bought for a few dollars at any drug store.


Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal method. A needle is placed in a hair follicle and electric current is delivered to the follicle. This damages the hair, and it does not return. This method works well for small localized areas of hair, but can be time consuming and costly for large patches, as each hair must be done individually. Also, if the needle is not inserted just right, the hair may need to be retreated, and often an area must be treated three to four times before the hair is permanently removed. While the needle should not puncture the skin, electrolysis can be painful. It is recommended that electrolysis be done by a professional; home treatment methods are difficult and generally unsuccessful.


Laser hair removal is another permanent hair removal method. It is a more recent method, and data as to its long-term effectiveness is still being gathered. Light from a laser is pointed at a small area of skin. The energy from the light is absorbed by the dark hair pigment, heating and damaging the follicle. This method does not work for white or grey hair or for people with dark skin and light hair. Because this method does not require each hair to be treated individually, this method is much quicker and less expensive for larger areas such as the legs as compared to electrolysis. If you are interested in laser hair removal, find a reputable professional. Laser hair removal can cause permanent skin damage if not performed properly. It can be painful, but as more research continues to be gathered, its looking more and more like a viable option for many people. The only place laser hair removal should not be performed is around the eyes, as it could cause permanent eye damage.


Vaniqa is a cream designed specifically to target facial hair in women. It is intended to slow the growth of this hair, and is designed to be used with other nonpermanent methods of hair removal. It is available by prescription only, and has been shown to be effective in almost 60% of the patients in the trial. It is currently only for use by women over 12.

<p>So, you now know that you have to exercise to lose body fat eh? Good! <p>For those who don't, here is a quick recap why we have to workout to lose fat in the stomach and to get that six pack. Basically, the six pack that everybody is referring to are the abdominal muscles that is situated beneath the chest and stretches down the torso until slightly beneath the belly button. <p>Remember, the abs is still a muscle, just like any other muscle in the body, there for they are still covered by the layer of belly fat, water and skin. So logically, to get abs, you have to lose that layer of belly fat under the skin and reduce the water retention that creates the smooth look on the abs area. We want that dry, ripped, deep cut and rock hard abs, and there is not better way to achieve that than diet and exercise. <p>You might argue that by dieting alone you can lose body fat and you don't have to exercise to lose belly fat. Yes, that is true, as long as the calories in are lesser than the calories out. But get this, how long can you deprive yourself from food? By dieting alone, it is not enough to create a calorie deficit that is required to burn body fat. <p>More over, by dieting too long, the body metabolism will slow down and eventually; your weight loss progress will come to a halt. You still need to exercise to lose belly fat, because only by exercising, you can benefit from the increase of metabolism, strength, extra calorie burned and so much more. <p>But do not forget, we cannot specifically lose the fat in the stomach alone, the body fat of the entire body will come down naturally as a whole and eventually, the stomach fat will be burnt too. There is no such thing as spot reduction. <p>So what is the best abs exercise to lose belly fat? <p>There are mainly 2 types of exercises, the first one is cardiovascular training, in short, you need to do cardio to burn the belly fat. Fat basically is taken from the fat cells and transported into the muscles and burned during cardiovascular training. <p>The recommended frequency is 4 to 5 times a week with rest no more than 2 days in between; the session is a 30 - 60 minutes workout at a moderately high intensity of 70-80 percent of the maximum heart rate. <p>The best cardio exercise to lose belly fat would be the stair climber or stepper, the treadmill and the rower. These machines use the large muscle groups in the body and force the muscles to move in a large range of motion. <p>The 2 type of exercise is resistance training. While this type of exercise does not really make you lose belly fat, they make abdominal muscles strong to balance the upper body and lower body, protect the spinal cord and make the abdominals muscles stand out. <p>If your abs standout, its easier for people to notice them compared to the abs that are flat, because abs that are thick creates the deep separation between the abdominal blocks, this creates a clear definition. So in this case, resistance training is one of the best exercises to lose belly fat. <p>To exercise the oblique, it�s best to do a rotation motion. By doing a rotation movement, it works the internal oblique, which is responsible for rotating the torso. This is a very important exercise to lose belly fat because in creates an illusion for a small waistline. Internal oblique do not grow side ways when they are being exercised with resistance unlike the external oblique. <p>Use medicine ball rotation to work the internal oblique. Sit firmly on a fit ball, have a workout partner stand behind you, with your arms outstretched, holding a medicine ball, rotate your torso and pass the ball to your workout partner, then rotate to the opposite direction to get the medicine ball back from your buddy and repeat again for 30 reps and then do the opposite direction. <p>Another fabulous exercise to lose belly fat is to do fitball crunches superset with floor crossover crunches. Place the top of the fitball on your lower back and place both feet wide apart, with your palms supporting your head, crunch up slowly squeezing your abs for a sec and then come down slowly. <p>Lay down on the floor with your feet together and palms behind your head, crunch up, lifting the shoulder blades of the floor, at the top, rotate to the right and rotate back to the center, only until you rotate back to the center, your come down again and then up and rotate to the left.
